Patriot Day Family Picnic in the Park

BRENTWOOD – The City of Brentwood, Brentwood Chamber of Commerce and the Brentwood Press are hosting “Patriot Day Family Picnic in the Park” on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at City Park located at Second and Oak Streets in Brentwood at 5:00 pm.

On December 18, 2001, President Bush signed Public Law No.107-89, designating September 11th as Patriot Day. State and local governments and the people of the United States are asked to observe Patriot Day with the appropriate programs and activities to honor the individuals who lost their lives as a result of terrorist attacks on that date in 2001.

This free event will begin at 5:00 pm with free hot dog meals to the first 1,000 people, donated and served by the Brentwood Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and Discovery Bay Republican Women’s Federation. The picnic will be followed by a brief, informal remembrance program, and then the “All-American Boys Chorus” will perform patriotic music at 7:00 pm, the final scheduled concert in the City’s “Starry Nights in Brentwood” free downtown musical series.

So, gather the family and your picnic blanket or lawn chairs and come out for an evening of reflection and patriotism with your community.
