City Park Begins Reconstruction

BRENTWOOD, CA – As part of the City Park Redesign, a new play area will be constructed at the southeast corner of the park near Oak Street and the City Hall parking area. The new play environment will include separated, age-appropriate play equipment for both tots and school-aged children.

The play equipment includes climber elements, a tot clubhouse, spring riders and swings. Shade will be provided by both the addition of trees and a Cooltoppers shade canopy over the sand play area. In addition to the play elements, this project includes picnic tables, benches, trellis structures and a drinking fountain.

Parks and Recreation staff is recommending the award of a $286,500 contract for the City Park Play Area to Indio’s Construction, Inc. at the January 13, 2004 City Council meeting. Construction is anticipated to begin prior to the end of January. Completion of the play area is scheduled for April, 2004, after which time the existing play area on the north side of City Park will be removed.
