Press Release
Sand Creek Road Construction Update

The Sand Creek Road/O’Hara Avenue loop was reopened on Thursday afternoon, October 9, 2003. Temporary stop signs and warning signs have been installed to alert motorists of the roadway changes. Traffic control will remain in place east of O’Hara Avenue on the south side of Sand Creek Road for the widening work being performed on Sand Creek Road by the developer, CP Management.

The grand opening of Sand Creek Road is tentatively scheduled for late November 2003 pending construction of the at-grade crossing facilities by Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR). UPRR has scheduled installation of the signal crossings for the week of October 14. Their schedule for track replacement work has not yet been finalized.

The box culvert on the O’Hara side of the intersection of Sand Creek Road that suffered fire damage in April of this year will be repaired later this month. There will be a one-day road closure to accommodate the work. Landscaping and soundwalls are scheduled to be installed prior to the grand opening.

Bike trails will be paved Friday, October 10, east of the bridge, but the section of Marsh Creek Trail between Central Boulevard and Sand Creek Road will remain closed until the box culvert repairs are completed.
