Press Release
PAL Merges with the City Of Brentwood
Parks and Recreation Department

On Tuesday, May 13, 2003 City Council approved a permanent finance plan for the Brentwood Police Activities League. The collaboration between Brentwood PAL and the Parks and Recreation Department will be two-fold: to enhance the after-school programs located at Edna Hill Middle and Loma Vista Elementary Schools, and to work with the PAL Board to continue to raise funds to provide CAL–PAL programs such as Sharks in the Park, Junior Giants and others, just to name a few.

The after-school program provides constructive supervised activities for youth, Monday through Friday from 3 to 6pm, which includes transportation from off-site locations. The City will provide one full-time Recreation Supervisor and related office, training and support costs.

The City of Brentwood will fund a “not to exceed” $50,000 for each of the next two years for the after-school program, with PAL expected to raise a minimum of $50,000 per year for the program. This cooperative agreement will be reviewed in two years to determine long-term funding and to see how the PAL board is doing in raising additional funds.
