Press Release
Brentwood Boulevard Curve Reconstruction

The Brentwood Boulevard Curve project will begin construction on Monday, June 23, 2003 and is expected to be completed this fall. Work will involve the reconstruction of the road alignment and curve of Brentwood Boulevard between Pine and Second Streets near the Safeway Shopping Center. The project is designed to improve public safety while traveling through the curve.

To keep Brentwood Boulevard open to both motorists and pedestrians during construction, the work will be accomplished in stages. The first stage of work will be to relocate the existing sound wall between the road and the school and to widen the east side of the road. This work will be done during the school’s summer break and traffic will be shifted to the west using traffic control.

The second stage of construction will be to install the future planted median. Traffic during this stage will be split on both the east and west sides of the road and the contractor will begin relocating the driveway to the Diablo Mini Storage facility. The final stages of work will be to improve the west side of the road and back entrance into the Safeway shopping center and complete remaining improvements.

Traffic will be open in both directions at all times during construction. Expect traffic delays of 15 to 20 minutes during peak hours. For further information, please contact Project Manager D’Evelyn Spekner, 516-5420.
