Brentwood Appoints New Assistant Community Development Director


BRENTWOOD, CA – Brentwood City Manager, Donna Landeros, and Community Development Director, Howard Sword, are pleased to announce that Casey McCann has been hired by the City as the Assistant Community Development Director.

The selection process included screening by an executive recruitment firm, and in-depth interviews.

McCann began his extensive 25 year career in planning with the City of Dilworth, MN as a City Planner from 1979 – 1980. From 1982 – 1986 he worked as an Associate Planner with the City of Oklahoma City, OK. From 1986 – 1988 he worked as an Associate Planner for the City of Orinda, and then as a Senior Planner for the City of Fairfield from 1989 – 1996.

McCann comes to the City of Brentwood from the City of Pleasant Hill where he worked as Deputy Director of Public Works and Community Development Department since June 2003.

McCann received a Bachelors Degree from the University of Vermont, and a Masters Degree in Regional and City Planning from the University of Oklahoma. He has had continuing education in redevelopment, real estate development and finance, and feasibility analysis.

City Manager Donna Landeros said, “I am very pleased to have Casey McCann on board. Casey brings to the City the skills and capabilities necessary to properly manage Brentwood’s growth.”

Director of Community Development, Howard Sword commented, “I am really happy that Casey has decided to join the Brentwood team. City staff and residents both will benefit from his past experience.” McCann assumed his position with the City on June 11th.
