Nutrition
One pound of muscle at rest burns 35 calories.

In the last 10 years, obesity rates for adults in the U.S. have increased by 60 percent. The increase in overweight among our youth is even steeper. These statistic sadly point to what has become a true and avoidable epidemic. It has been a fast and silent trend easily disguised by convenience, fast paced life styles and modern technology.

People young and old can make simple changes in their everyday lifestyles that are more influential than genetic factors in maintaining a long and healthy life. As your Parks and Recreation Department, we feel it is our responsibility to inform and promote such positive changes.
