EXPLORER POST #415
Application for Explorers
The Explorers is a program that teaches different aspects of law enforcement to youth possibly interested in a career in police work. The Explorer Post is open to youths 14 to 21 years old and at least in the ninth grade. All Explorers must have “C” grades or above, no prior arrests or pending cases (some exceptions may apply).
The Explorers in our post are given similar training that Police Officers receive. Our Explorer Post competes at various competitions throughout the state to test their skills. Explorers are permitted to ride with police officers during their patrol shifts to learn the realities of police work.
The Explorer program is not to be taken lightly. It takes time, dedication and sacrifice just like any school sport or other activity. Meetings are held the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month. The Explorer Program does suffice for school community service hours.
All prospective candidates must fill out an application and submit it to the Explorer Advisors. You will be invited for an interview with the Explorer Advisors and a member of the Explorer program. If you are offered a position with the Explorers you will complete a background check and be placed on a three month probationary status. If you pass the probationary status successfully you will be given an ‘at will’ position with the Explorer Program.
Please contact Officer Roger Wilson at (925) 809-7768 for further information or download the Explorer Application.
