Managing Development for Long Term Growth and Sustainability

Through its efforts, the Redevelopment Agency helps prepare plans and studies to merge the best in planning and design with the “Brentwood way”.

Specific Plans
The Agency assisted with preparing plans to manage growth in the Downtown and along the Brentwood Boulevard corridor in an efficient, balanced manner. The Specific Plans contain specific economic goals and objectives for the Downtown and Brentwood Boulevard; and contribute to the preservation, enhancement and revitalization of these unique City areas.

The intent of the Downtown Specific Plan is to guide growth and ensure the Downtown evolves to embody the community’s vision for a vibrant, active, and beautiful City district that continues to play an essential role in the daily lives of the City’s residents. The Plan is established to preserve Downtown’s role as the civic and cultural heart of the City and is fundamental to the long-term health of the Brentwood community.

The Brentwood Boulevard Specific Plan provides long-term policy guidance needed to revitalize and improve a portion of the current State Route 4 corridor and recognize opportunities for change as the corridor transitions from automobile commercial highway to local mixed-use arterial roadway. Future development is planned to create an attractive visual entry to Brentwood from the north and strengthen the Downtown Brentwood core at the southern end by bringing additional workplaces and residences in convenient proximity to Downtown.

Parking Solutions
In order to coordinate future growth in the Downtown, the Redevelopment Agency is undertaking a comprehensive parking plan. This plan will look at possible parking facilities and solutions, such as a possible parking structure and surface lots, disbursed throughout the Downtown in strategic locations.

Business Attraction Programs
The Downtown Facade Improvement Grant Program is just the start of Downtown programs being established to target businesses and create a shopping and dining district that enhances Brentwood’s viability. Watch for new programs as they are unveiled.
