Redevelopment Project Achievements in 2009-2010
  • Sponsored the Health & Safety Program. Eleven lower-income homeowners were assisted with $44,500 of funding, with several applications currently in the approval stages.
  • Administered and funded Downtown Facade Improvement Grants for 3 store-fronts for a total of $42,000, with two applications currently in the approval stages.
  • Acquired Davis Camp to eliminate a serious blight condition and relocated all residential tenants in 2008 to decent, safe, sanitary housing. Completed on-site well abandonment and asbestos inspections and commenced long-term lease with existing grocery market. Completed the asbestos removal, demolition and clearance of the Davis Camp site, eliminating a serious blight condition on Brentwood Boulevard. Completed the lot line adjustment for 200 Sunset Court and 140 Jane Street.
  • Completed the first AB 1389 Pass-Through Report with full concurrence by the County Auditor.
  • Prepared and approved the 2010-2014 Five Year Implementation Plan.
  • Completed AB1389 Pass-Through Report with full concurrence by the County Auditor.
  • Facilitated three community visioning workshops for Downtown Streetscape Project and approved the Downtown Streetscape Master Plan, Initial Study and Mitigated Negative Declaration.
  • Commenced assemblage and environmental investigations for Downtown Parking Solutions and completed parking structure concept as future developer marketing tool.
  • Completed construction drawings for Downtown Streetscape and Infrastructure to prepare for bid and construction.
  • Continued investigation of environmental conditions for the potential Downtown Parking Structure site on Second Street.
  • Commenced studies and planning for expedited remediation activities of the Harlow site.
  • Assisted two new restaurant opportunities to open in Downtown.
  • Issued $10M of lease revenue bonds to fund new community center and streetscape improvements in Downtown.
  • Created and approved new Downtown Restaurant Incentive Program to encourage the establishment of a dining district.
  • Continued facilitation of City and Agency actions required to implement the Downtown Specific Plan.
  • Funded a portion of Downtown infrastructure improvements including new water and sewer facilities.
  • Extended redevelopment plan limits in accordance with SB 1045 and SB 1096.
  • Reserved $1.3 for the rehabilitation of Green Valley Apartments.
  • Created and approved new Home Rehabilitation & Preservation Program.
  • Amended an agreement to provide an escrow extension for purchase of parcel at Sunset Industrial Complex; amended two agreements to provide an extension of building permit issuance.
