Retirement

PERS 3% @ 50 Plan.  City pays employer contribution (26.746%) and employee contribution (9%). 

Post Retirement Health Benefits
Health Plan City pays up to $1,250.66 monthly for premiums under the PERS Medical Program or $610.44 monthly cash in-lieu of health insurance with proof of other coverage.
Dental City pays premium for full family coverage.
Vision Care City pays premium for full family coverage.
Life Insurance & AD&D Ins. $20,000 Life Insurance and $100,000 Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance (Premium - 20.5 per $1,000 of insurance)
Long Term Disability Two-thirds of salary with a current maximum benefit of $10,000, after a 29-day waiting period. (Premium - .65 per $100 covered)
Vacation Leave 1-5 years 104 hours
5-12 years 144 hours
12-20 years 168 hours
Over 20 years 224 hours
Vacation Buyback May receive cash for up to 40 hours of accrued vacation in March of each year. After completing 3 years of employment, may also receive cash for up to 40 hours of accrued vacation in October of each year.
Compensatory Time May accrue up to 80 hours of Compensatory time.
Sick Leave Eight hours accrued per month.
Bereavement Leave Up to 3 days, except if household member or out of state up to 5 days.
Holidays Compensated for 13 per year.
Longevity Incentive Plan At 5, 10, 15 years, etc., employee receives a bonus week of vacation time, that year only.
Deferred Compensation The city administers deferred compensation plans through ICMA, VALIC, and CalPERS. Employees may voluntarily invest income on a pre-tax basis up to an annual maximum of $17,000.
Flexible Benefits Plan A voluntary plan that allows employees to set aside earnings to pay for certain eligible dependent care or health care expenses on a pre-tax basis.
Uniform Allowance $1,000 per fiscal year.
Spanish Bilingual Pay $600 per fiscal year.
Special Assignment Pay 5% for designation as Detective, Canine Unit, Traffic Safety, etc. 5% for Field Training Officer (One FTO will be compensated for each hour training a new officer for up to 26 weeks.)
Education Incentive Plan
AA/Intermediate 2.5% of base salary
BA/Advanced 5% of base salary
MA 7.5% of base salary
PERS Is not configured into base salary.
Medicare City pays 1.45% and Employee pays 1.45%.
FICA The City contracts with CalPERS for retirement benefits, therefore the City does not contribute to FICA.
