The City Attorney is appointed by the City Council to provide legal assistance concerning city operations and procedures and to represent the City in litigation. In addition to being legal counsel for the City Council and Redevelopment Agency, the City Attorney also provides legal advice to the City's boards, commissions, and employees. The City Attorney's responsibilities include the review and preparation of ordinances, resolutions, contracts, leases, and related legal documents for the City.
The City Attorney's Office does not provide private legal advice to citizens nor does it prosecute violations of the California Penal Code, California Vehicle Code, or other violations of State Law. |
