Rodrigues to attend the Fall Board Meeting for California Association of
Park and Recreation Commissioners and Board Members.

Approve request for Park and Recreation Commissioner Ernie Rodrigues to
attend the Fall Board Meeting for California Association of Park and
Recreation Commissioners and Board Members in Newport Beach from October 6 –
October 7, 2007.
City Council approved the 2007/2008 – 2008/09 Operation Line Item Budget at
the regular City Council meeting of June 26, 2007. In this budget, monies
were budgeted for Park and Recreation Commissioners to attend trainings and
conferences that includes the California Association of Parks and Recreation
Commissioners and Board Members.
Council/Administrative Policy 20-4, “Travel / Expense Policy” Section 4.1
states that “Overnight travel by Councilmembers and Commissioners, except
League of Cities, shall be pre-approved by having the item placed on the
City Council Consent Calendar”. In each of the past four years, members of
the Park and Recreation Commission have attended the CPRS Conference,
accompanied by Parks and Recreation Department staff.
The CAPRCMB Conference provides the necessary tools to further enhance the
roles of Commissioners and Board Members. The members are either appointed
or elected and are utilized to recommend certain solutions when dealing with
various aspects of Parks and Recreation.
This year, Ernie Rodrigues, is the President of California Association of
Park and Recreation Commissioners and Board Member.
Costs for this conference are included in the City Council adopted 2007/08 –
2008/09 budget. Registration fees, lodging, and per diem expenses of
approximately $500 will be charged to the Park and Recreation Commission
