RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution approving and authorizing submittal of a grant application to United States Tennis Association (USTA) in the amount of $2,000 and matching funds of $2,000 from the USTA Northern California District Office and authorizing the City Manager or her designee to execute and submit all documents which may be necessary for the grant.

PREVIOUS ACTION
On September 12, 2006 City Council accepted a grant for $2,000 from United States Tennis Association (USTA) for fiscal year 2006/2007 for resurfacing of the Creekside Park Tennis Court.

BACKGROUND
The USTA Adopt-A-Court program was initiated by the Technical Committee of USTA in 1999 to financially assist public tennis facilities in repairing and upgrading existing tennis courts. By investing in the rehabilitation and development of tennis facilities in the United States, USTA believes the program will provide more opportunity for the growth and development of the game.

The USTA Public Facility Funding application grants up to $2,500 from USTA National that must be matched dollar for dollar for facility improvements including fixed amenities (e.g. resurfacing, windscreens, backboards, fencing, lighting systems).

Staff recommends applying for grant funds to reinforce existing cyclone fence and install tennis court windscreens on the court for Creekside Park tennis court in FY 2007/2008. The project will begin and be complete in September 2007. By receiving this grant the City will have no fiscal impact, as USTA National will provide $2,000, with a $2,000 match from The USTA Northern California District Office.

FISCAL IMPACT
The estimated cost for this project is $4,000. USTA National grant funds in the amount of $2,000 and matching funds of $2,000 are from USTA Northern California District Office. City of Brentwood has no fiscal impact.
