Meeting Date: September 27, 2005

RECOMMENDATION
Adopt a Resolution approving a Contract Amendment with Camp Dresser & McKee to provide updates to our Water Master Plan in the amount of $27,000, plus a 10% contingency of $2,700, for a total of $29,700 and authorizing the City Manager to execute the said document.

PREVIOUS ACTION
On December 14, 2004, by Resolution No. 2004-278, City Council approved Amendment One of the Professional Services Agreement with Camp Dresser & McKee for the Water Master Plan Update-Phase 3, extending the term of the contract to December 31, 2005.

BACKGROUND
On July 16, 2004, the City of Brentwood entered into a contract with Camp Dresser & McKee (CDM) to obtain professional services relating to the Water Master Plan Updates for a total contract amount of $45,000. At this time, it was agreed that CDM would perform Tasks 1, 2 and 3; review and update model configuration, revise model demand allocations and establish criteria and conduct water system analysis. Staff felt that Tasks 4 and 5, proposed by CDM, needed to be revised based upon the results of the first three tasks; therefore, they were not included in the original contract. Based on the findings after performing the first three tasks, it was necessary to revise the scope of Tasks 4 and 5 to better address the City’s needs for completion of the project. The contract amendment amount of $27,000 will cover the revised tasks as follows; Task 4, finalizing the recommended improvements and provide final master plan information and Task 5, providing model training and materials, as well as post-training support.

FISCAL IMPACT
The total cost for this contract amendment is $27,000, for a total contract amount of $72,000, which is included in our general budget and has been submitted and approved by the City Council.
