CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM NO. D

Meeting Date: June 28, 2005

Subject/Title: Scholarship winner proclamations

Prepared by: Tom Burt, Recreation Services Supervisor

Submitted by: Craig D. Bronzan, Director of Parks and Recreation

For the second year, the Youth Commission has awarded scholarships to qualified and deserving students. Each year, $1,000 scholarships are awarded to one male and one female. Applicants submit completed applications for the scholarships, which are then reviewed by a subcommittee of the Youth Commission. A vote is then taken to determine who will receive each of the two scholarships. The students were then awarded the scholarships at the Liberty High School Scholarship Awards Ceremony.

Staff now presents the following proclamations to the Mayor and City Council:

• Vanessa Pridmore has been awarded the Youth Commission female scholarship for the
2004/2005 school year.

• Moeen Koya has been awarded the Youth Commission male scholarship for the
2004/2005 school year.

The Mayor will read the proclamations to the scholarship recipients listed above.

Staff invites the Mayor and City Council to congratulate these Youth Commission Scholarship winners.
