Subject/Title: “Oldies but Goodies” Proclamation

The “Oldies but Goodies” program, in partnership with Liberty Adult Education, is specifically designed to offer activities and socialization for the frail elderly or adults who find themselves homebound, isolated or alone, as well as active seniors who enjoy helping other seniors. This program meets year round on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. here in the Brentwood Community Center. As part of the program, staff provides a variety of arts and crafts projects throughout the year. As done in past years, staff submitted a variety of these arts and crafts projects in the Contra Costa County Fair, winning twelve first place ribbons.

Staff presents the following proclamation to the Mayor and City Council:

The Mayor will read the proclamation to the participants listed above and give each a copy.

Staff invites the Mayor and City Council to congratulate these “Oldies but Goodies” County Fair contest winners.

Proclamation of the City of Brentwood
Recognizing the Senior Citizens
“Oldies but Goodies” Program

WHEREAS, the “Oldies but Goodies” Program, in partnership with Liberty Adult Education, provides Arts and Crafts projects for frail and active senior citizens two days a week; and

WHEREAS, the “Oldies but Goodies” participants have been working on a variety of Arts and Crafts projects over the last several months; and

WHEREAS, the “Oldies but Goodies” Program participants recently submitted a variety of these Arts and Crafts projects in the 2005 Contra Costa County Fair Arts and Crafts contest; and

WHEREAS, 2005 Contra Costa County Fair awarded and recognized twelve program participants with first place ribbons;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City of Brentwood and the Parks and Recreation Department honor the “Oldies but Goodies” Program and the twelve award winning participants for excellence.
