Approve a Resolution authorizing the purchase of a new Sterling 10-Wheel
Dump Truck from Delta Truck Center and authorizing the City Manager to
execute a purchase order not to exceed $90,852.06.
On June 10, 2003, by Resolution No. 2893, City Council adopted the Vehicle
Replacement Fund under the 2003/04 - 2004/05 Operating Budget for the City
On February 24, 2004, by Resolution No. 2004-40, City Council adopted
Purchasing Policy No. 10-7.
The Water Division has two dump trucks, a 2000 Ford F-650 and a 1995 Ford
F-800. The 1995 F-800 is due for replacement through the Vehicle Replacement
Fund. The Water Division’s dump trucks are used daily to facilitate removal
of spoil and repair of roads associated with water leaks and water
distribution system maintenance. No additional staff will be required for
operation as this is a replacement vehicle. Current staff is trained on
proper operation of the dump trucks in our fleet.
The Sterling 10-Wheel Dump Truck can be delivered by September 2005.
In compliance with the Purchasing Policy staff requested three bids and
received two bids and one returned as a no-bid. The quotes are as follows:
East Bay Ford Truck $91,963.00
Delta Truck Center $90,852.06
Mission Valley Ford Truck No Bid
The amount not to exceed $90,852.06 will be expended through the Water
Enterprise. The Vehicle Replacement Fund will provide $65,052.00 for this
replacement. The remaining $25,800.06 will be transferred from
560-5501-70114 Distribution System account.
APPROVE A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A NEW STERLING 10-WHEEL
DUMP TRUCK FROM DELTA TRUCK CENTER AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO
EXECUTE A PURCHASE ORDER NOT TO EXCEED $90,852.06.
WHEREAS, the Water Division’s F-800 dump truck is due for replacement; and
WHEREAS, staff has selected the best dump truck for the City’s operation;
WHEREAS, in Fiscal Year 2004/05, funds were budgeted through the Vehicle
Replacement Fund to replace the Water Division’s F-800 dump truck; and
WHEREAS, on June 10, 2003, by Resolution No. 2893, City Council adopted the
Vehicle Replacement Fund under the 2003/04 – 2004/05 Operating Budget for
the City of Brentwood; and
WHEREAS, on February 24, 2004, by Resolution No. 2004-40, City Council
approved Purchasing Policy No: 10-7; and
WHEREAS, the purchase of the Sterling dump truck is in compliance with the
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brentwood
that the City shall purchase one Sterling dump truck from Delta Truck
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Manager or his or her designee is
authorized to execute a purchase order with Delta Truck Center for a cost
not to exceed $90,852.06.
