Reject the claim of Willie M. Harper presented on April 12, 2004 as
recommended by the City’s third party adjuster, Contra Costa County
Municipal Risk Management Insurance Authority and the City Attorney.
Claimant, Willie Harper, presented a claim in the amount of $932.00 for
damage to his car. Claimant states that on March 11, 2004, as he was turning
onto Brentwood Blvd. from Valdry Court he ran over a broken signpost. He
alleged that the post caught his bumper and damaged the front left side
panel of this car. Staff has concluded that the City did not place the pole
or stop sign at the intersection. Also, the City did not have notice of the
defective condition of the sign. At this time, it appears that the
conditions were created by Caltrans.
No fiscal impact at this time.
