Subject/Title: Set the dates of May 19, June 2 and June 30, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the
Community Center to hold joint City Council / Planning Commission Public
Workshops to review and discuss the Downtown and Brentwood Boulevard
Specific Plans.

RECOMMENDATION
Set the dates of May 19, June 2 and June 30, 2004 at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Center to hold joint City Council / Planning Commission Public Workshops to review and discuss the Downtown and Brentwood Boulevard Specific Plans.

PREVIOUS ACTION

 The City Council on March 11, 2003 approved a contract with Freedman, Tung and Bottomley to prepare Specific Plans for the Empire Triangle, Brentwood Boulevard and Downtown areas.

 The City Council and Planning Commission on January 27, 2004 held a joint Workshop to review the progress of the Empire Triangle, Brentwood Boulevard and Downtown Specific Plans.

 The City Council and Planning Commission on February 17, 2004 held a joint Workshop to review the progress of the Empire Triangle, Brentwood Boulevard and Downtown Specific Plans.

BACKGROUND

The community has identified several issues regarding the Downtown Specific Plan. The May 19, 2004 Workshop is planned for a discussion by the City Council, Planning Commission and the general public regarding the visual and scale vision for the Downtown in the future. The June 30, 2004 Workshop is planned for a discussion by the City Council, Planning Commission and the general public regarding land use and locations for specific development activities for the Downtown in the future.

The June 2, 2004 Workshop is planned for a discussion by the City Council, Planning Commission and the general public regarding specific design elements of the Brentwood Boulevard “Grand Avenue” vision.
