Subject/Title: Set the date of March 9, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to hold a City Council Workshop to review the 50% Schematic Design alternatives for the New City Hall, CIP Project No. 337-3139.

RECOMMENDATION
Set the date of March 9, 2004 at 5:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers to hold a City Council Workshop to review the 50% Schematic Design alternatives for the New City Hall, CIP Project No. 337-3139.

PREVIOUS ACTION
On May 27, 2003, City Council approved the 2003/2008 CIP Program and appointed Mayor Brian Swisher and Council Member Bill Hill to the New City Hall Ad Hoc Committee.

On July 22, 2003, City Council authorized staff to negotiate an Architectural Services Contract with Kaplan McLaughlin Diaz (KMD) to begin the site selection and programming process.

On August 26, 2003, City Council approved the negotiated contract with KMD to begin the site selection and programming process for the New City Hall Project.

On October 14, 2003, City Council approved and authorized the use of the New City Hall Project Goals and Objectives.

On January 27, 2004, City Council approved the Site Selection, Program Verification and a Design Contract with KMD for the New City Hall Project.

BACKGROUND
KMD Architects have prepared three Schematic Design alternatives that address the program requirements approved by City Council for the New City Hall Project. These alternatives will be numerically rated according to the Project Goals and Objectives that City Council adopted October 14, 2003. In order to move forward, direction is required from City Council regarding the design alternative. Staff will bring forward a request to City Council at their regularly scheduled meeting of March 9, 2004, to receive such direction.
