PREVIOUS ACTION
On February 27, 2001, the City Council authorized the funding of $36,213 to relocate Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) facilities on the east side of Fairview Avenue.

On June 12, 2001, the City Council awarded a contract to Tennyson Electric Company to construct the traffic signals and intersections at the intersections of Fairview/Minnesota Avenues (CIP Project No. 336-3120), and Central Boulevard/Griffith Lane (CIP Project No. 336-3057).

BACKGROUND
Installation of traffic signals will provide traffic safety and congestion relief through these intersections. These intersections will be busier as the development of surrounding properties is underway.

Tennyson Electric Company has completed traffic signal installation at the intersections of Fairview/Minnesota Avenues and Central Boulevard/Griffith Lane, and has met all the contractual requirements required to accept the work.

This acceptance by the City Council is an administrative action necessary to formally closeout the project.

FISCAL IMPACT
The regular electrical energy charges and maintenance charges of traffic signals will be approximately $9,000 annually and will be funded through the general fund, Measure ‘C’ and gas tax funds. Street lighting maintenance costs will be funded through the LLD for the surrounding subdivision.
