CITY COUNCIL AGENDA
ITEM NO. 08
Meeting Date: March 12, 2002
Subject/Title: Approve a resolution establishing the classification description and compensation for part-time, temporary Skate Park Supervisor
Submitted by: Patti Standley, Human Resources Manager
Approved by: John Stevenson, City Manager
Adopt a Resolution establishing the classification description and compensation for part-time, temporary Skate Park Supervisor.
At the City Council meeting held on January 8, 2002, the City Council authorized staff to provide supervision of the Skate Park and its users through June 30, 2002.
The skate park has been open since November 22, 2001, with on site supervision to halt inappropriate use of the skate park. The supervision of the skate park has been very successful.
In order to define the function, staff prepared a classification description identifying the general duties and responsibilities necessary to ensure order and the safe use of the City’s skate park. The attached Skate Park Supervisor classification description, marked Exhibit A, is provided for your review and consideration.
The proposed salary, $12.97-$15.77 per hour, is based on the salary provided to the Pool Manager classification as the scope of work and level of responsibility are similar. Staff was not able to conduct a survey of comparable agencies since most agencies that have skate parks do not supervise them. Upon approval of the new classification, staff will update the hourly wage table for hourly and seasonal staff that City Council approved January 8, 2002.
There is no additional fiscal impact to the expenditure previously approved by the City Council. The Director of Parks and Recreation confirmed available funding at the January 8, 2002 City Council meeting.
