PREVIOUS ACTION:
On February 27, 2001 the City Council authorized the funding of $36,213 to relocate Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) facilities on the east side of Fairview Avenue.

On March 13, 2001 the City Council approved the purchase of an easement from EBMUD in the amount of $2,710.

On March 27, 2001 the City Council approved the purchase of a fee parcel from Maggiore and Brown in the amount of $7,659.

On June 12, 2001 the City Council awarded a contract in the amount of $289,000 to Tennyson Electric, Inc. to construct the intersection improvements at Fairview Avenue and Grant Street, CIP Project No. 336-3120.

BACKGROUND:
The original construction contract called for intersection improvements including the installation of traffic signals. During the construction phase, it became necessary to revise the design to change intersection grades for a smooth transition. This change caused raising of the PG&E valves at the intersection. During construction, the inclusion of the missing trail section on the north side of Grant Street was added into the scope of work. Staff is requesting approval of the change order to bring the authorization in line with construction costs. For housekeeping measure staff is amending the CIP budget by including the previous Council actions related to the project.

FISCAL IMPACT:
The funds for this work will be obtained through roadway fees.
