P R O C L A M A T I O N


WHEREAS, an educated citizenry is the foundation of our democracy; and

WHEREAS, the Liberty Union High School District was established in 1901 and the first classes were held in the fall of 1902; and

WHEREAS, children have been attending schools for one hundred years in the Liberty Union High School District; and

WHEREAS, the Liberty Union High School District has a tradition of academic excellence; and

WHEREAS, that tradition of excellence has been the result of dedicated service by staff and community members, past and present; and

WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the historical value of education in our society; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Michael A. McPoland, Sr., Mayor of the City of Brentwood, do hereby proclaim school year 2001- 2002 as the “Centennial Year” and that appropriate activities will be held to commemorate and celebrate yesterday’s memories – a century of pride.
