RECOMMENDATION
Approve a Resolution authorizing the City Manager to execute an Actual Cost Contract with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) in an amount not to exceed $88,000 for the relocation of the existing 60 kV Transmission Power Line along the proposed Sunset Road Realignment and authorizing the City Manager to approve change orders up to 10% of the contract amount for CIP Project No. 336-3012.

PREVIOUS ACTION
On February 8, 2000, the City Council approved the Design Contract with Carlson Barbee and Gibson for the Sunset Road Realignment Project, CIP Project No. 336-3012.

On May 22, 2001, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2299 adopting the City’s 2001/2006 Capital Improvement Program that includes the Sunset Road Realignment.

BACKGROUND
The attached contract is for Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) to relocate the existing 60 kV Transmission Power Line along the proposed Sunset Road Realignment. The Sunset Road Realignment Project (from Brentwood Boulevard to 200 feet east of Marsh Creek) is necessitating the relocation on the existing 60 kV Transmission Power Line owned by Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) along the proposed project. This work must be completed as soon as possible so the roadway and bridge construction can begin.

FISCAL IMPACT
The funds for this work are through facility fees, which are included in the existing budget as approved in this year’s Capital Improvement Program 2001/2002. An increase to the overall budget for CIP 336-3012 is not anticipated.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE AN ACTUAL COST CONTRACT WITH PACIFIC GAS AND ELECTRIC (PG&E) IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $88,000 FOR THE RELOCATION OF THE 60 kV TRANSMISSION POWER LINE ALONG THE SUNSET ROAD REALIGNMENT FOR CIP PROJECT NO. 336-3012


WHEREAS, on February 8, 2000, the City Council approved the Design Contract with Carlson Barbee and Gibson for the Sunset Road Realignment Project, CIP Project No. 336-3012; and

WHEREAS, on May 22, 2001, the City Council approved Resolution No. 2299 adopting the City’s 2001/2006 Capital Improvement Program that includes the Sunset Road Realignment; and

WHEREAS, the relocation of the 60 kV Transmission Power Line by Pacific Gas and Electric Company is part of this project as shown on the improvement plans.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Brentwood hereby authorizes the City Manager to execute an Actual Cost Contract with Pacific Gas and Electric for the Sunset Road Realignment Project, CIP Project No. 336-3012, in an amount not to exceed $88,000 and further authorizes the City Manager to approve change orders up to 10% of the contract amount.
