Authorize the City Manager to approve a change order in the amount of $24,000 with Granite Construction for completion of CIP Project 336-3123, Oak and Third Street Improvements, and amend the CIP budget.
On November 14, 2000, City Council awarded a contract to Granite Construction to construct the Intersection Improvements at Oak and Third Street.
On March 13, 2001, City Council approved a temporary closure of the intersection of Oak and Third Streets for construction of the crosswalks associated with the 3-way stop construction.
The original construction contract called for minimal intersection improvements not including the concrete crosswalks, valley gutters or sidewalk replacement. During the pre-construction phase, this oversight was discovered and the contractor was directed to construct the crosswalks to match the others in the downtown area. In completing the work, the original quantities were exceeded which increased the contract amounts above what the Council had authorized. Staff requests approval of the change order to bring the authorization in line with the construction costs.
