CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM NO. 29
Meeting Date: May 22, 2001
Subject/Title: Request for selection of a date for a workshop with Park and Recreation Commission
Submitted by: Craig D. Bronzan, Director of Parks and Recreation
Approved by: Jon Elam, City Manager
Approve a workshop meeting with the Park and Recreation Commission for Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at 7:00 p.m.
City Council member Hill requested, as a future agenda item at the May 8, 2001 City Council meeting, to review the draft Park, Trails and Recreation Master Plan.
At the April 26, 2001 Park and Recreation Commission meeting, the Commission asked staff to request a workshop meeting with City Council to discuss the roles and responsibilities of the commission with City Council. At the May 8, 2001 City Council meeting, Council member Hill requested to review the draft Park, Trails and Recreation Master Plan, a plan that has been lead by the Park and Recreation Commission. Currently, Park and Recreation Department and Community Development Department staffs are working together with the plan consultants to make sure the master plan is consistent with the general plan. As a result, the timing is right for City Council to review the draft master plan and could accomplish the Commissionís request for a joint meeting in a single meeting. As May 29th is a fifth Tuesday, with no City Council or Planning Commission meetings scheduled, and as the master plan/general plan are nearing environmental review, staff would recommend this date as the most expedient to have a joint meeting.
