Subject/Title: Joint Community Marketing Program

Submitted by: Jon Elam, City Manager

Approved by: Jon Elam, City Manager

Approve the expenditure of up to $50,000 for the City Councilís Contingency Budget ($25,000 2000-2001 Budget, $25,000 2001-2002 Budget) as a financial match to the Brentwood Chamber of Commerceís cash contribution of $25,000 and marketing program revenue of $29,000 as a recommendation by the City Councilís Economic Development Sub-Committee.

An outgrowth of last yearís efforts to explore the creation of a business improvement district was the creation of a Chamber of Commerce sponsored Marketing Committee to develop a program to promote business in Brentwood. This effort developed the attached proposal and budget that requests a contribution by the City of $50,000.

The Councilís Sub-committee has met with representatives of the marketing program several times over the past several months. The concept is that the City would initially support the program with a $25,000 contribution. The additional $25,000 will be made following a four-month review by the Sub-committee and Marketing Committee at the end of the summer. The Marketing Committee representatives will be present to answer any questions.
