Authorize the funding of $50,000 to Pacific Gas & Electric Company (PG&E) for the engineering of relocation of 22" high-pressure gas transmission line for the Sand Creek Road - Central (CIP Project No. 336-3061).
On February 13, 2001, the Council authorized the City Engineer to execute a Design Contract Change Order with Carlson, Barbee & Gibson, Inc. (CBG) for the Sand Creek Road (Central) Project (CIP Project No. 336-3061) in an amount not to exceed $106,144; and authorized the City Engineer to execute a Design Contract Change Order with Mark Thomas & Company Inc. (MT&Co) for the Sand Creek Road (East) Project, (CIP Project No. 336-3061) in an amount not to exceed $150,500.
In order to construct the Sand Creek Roadway, the existing box culvert in Sand Creek at Fairview Avenue must be widened to accommodate the new Sand Creek Road/Fairview Avenue Intersection. PG&E's 22" high-pressure gas main transmission line is in conflict with the proposed work. The Engineering Department has requested that PG&E lower their existing facility in order to allow the widening of the box culvert. Per the attached letter, PG&E is requiring the City to deposit $50,000 for the engineering of said facility. This construction activity is not covered under the licensed franchisee agreement.
