Subject/Title: Support for Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation Facility

Submitted by: Jon Elam, City Manager

Approved by: Jon Elam, City Manager

Approve the contribution of up to $1,375.00 of Solid Waste Enterprise funds for the purpose of recognizing the support the Orin Allen Youth Rehabilitation program (formerly Byron Boys Ranch) have contributed to ensure the success of our Neighborhood Clean-up Programs.

Each year the City’s Code-Enforcement Program in conjunction with the Solid Waste Unit hold several neighborhood clean-up efforts in various sections of the City.

Residents bring their loaded up cans to a drop-off site and the car is unloaded by a crew of ten workers from the Youth facility. This allows for cars to move through the process more quickly and help ensure materials are placed in the proper bins.

The Youth facility does not charge for their labor but the City has for the past couple of years recognized their huge contribution by giving this Foundation a check for their efforts.

Staff has calculated the effort this year to be $1,375.00. This was based on 220 hours of work at the minimum wage level of $6.25 per hour. Instead of a check for this amount they requested the City acquire some recreation equipment ($774.76) with the difference being made up with a check of $600.24.

The Youth facility thanks the City for the opportunity to serve the Brentwood community.
