CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM
Meeting Date: December 12,
Subject/Title: Utility Extensions
Submitted by: Jon Elam, City Manager
Approved by: Jon Elam, City Manager
Authorize the City Manager to sign a contract with J & M, Inc. to install
water and sanitary sewer lines to four separate parcels adjacent to and behind
property located 8310 Lone Tree Way at a cost not to exceed $49,146.00 plus
a 10% contingency.
Earlier this fall the City was approached by Mr. Albert Kleine at 8310 Lone
Tree Way regarding his seriously failed septic system. He was a part of the
uncompleted 1996 North Brentwood Water & Sewer project and at the time
had been told services would be available. Mr. Kleine is eligible for assistance
we have provided other low-income residents in the Lone Tree Way corridor area.
In reviewing his request it became clear that a more complete solution was
needed that could serve additional properties in the future.
The City staff, following our bid requirements, secured four quotations for
this work (see attachment). Funding for this would be provided for by Redevelopment
funds. Funds at this level are presently available. There is a second extension,
sewer only, that will follow at the next Council meeting to extend a line south
behind the More 4 Less gas station adjacent to Highway 4 to serve a number
of rental units.
Slowly, but surely, we are addressing a variety of failing water well & sanitary
sewer sytems in North Brentwood. These were products of old County policies
that the City was left to address as these areas annexed to the City in the
past ten years.
