Meeting Date: December 12, 2000
Subject/Title: Request of Brookfield Homes

Provide direction to City staff.
For the past couple of months, City staff has received repeated requests from
Brookfield Homes to release building permits for their Boulder Ridge Development.
These permits are in limbo pending a 50% completion level of the first neighborhood
park that is to serve both Brentwood Lakes and Boulder Ridge.
The park, which is being constructed by Lee Hancock to fulfill one of the conditions
from his Brentwood Lakes development, has been in the planning and now construction
phase for at least two years.
The park property is actually within the Boulder Ridge development. Lee Hancock
requested when Brookfield Homes purchased his property that he be allowed to
build the Park. Brookfield Homes agreed with him but they, like us, never imagined
it would take so long.
Because the park is at the 30% level of completion, Brookfield Homes would
like to request the City allow them to proceed with foundation only permits
with the understanding that these homes would not go beyond this point unless
the park is completed.
I have added this to the agenda so the City Council can give staff some direction
Attached are request letters from Brookfield Homes. Community Development and
Engineering can go into the mountain of background and details on how we got
here. I have chosen in the attempt to be brief to focus on the request that
is before you.
