 RECOMMENDATION          

Reject claim presented by Julie Dalander on June 21, 2000 for $163.50 as recommended by the City’s third-party insurance adjuster, Contra Costa County Municipal Risk Management Insurance Authority and the City Attorney.

BACKGROUND

This claim was filed for an incident that took place on March 27, 2000 at 10:47 p.m. on Fairview Avenue between San Jose and Central when a Brentwood Police Officer stopped the claimant for excessive speed.  A check with the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) indicated that her vehicle was not registered for failure to file proof of insurance, and that the DMV had sent three notices to the claimant regarding the failure to file the proof of insurance.  The Officer had the vehicle towed.  The claimant is now seeking reimbursement for the towing and storage fees.
