Authorize the city manager to sign an option agreement with Christian Church Homes to purchase city owned property at 161 Sycamore Drive, APN # 016-160-041.




Christian Church Homes, the owner and operator of Sycamore Place Senior Housing located off Sycamore Court, adjacent to the Public Works facility, is interested in expanding its Housing Program and would like to enter into an option agreement with the City to purchase the site now used by Public Works as their Maintenance Yard.

As the attached letter outlines, they are willing to pay Market Rate for the property.

This could serve, to me, as couple of key City Council goals. The first goal was to sell excess city property to generate funds for new community facilities and the second is to consolidate several now separate Public Works work areas in a new facility located on city property owned next to the Sewer Treatment facility.

With the recent purchase and clean-up of the eye sore property at 159 Sycamore Drive, and the conversion of the city owned parcel to quality and very badly needed housing for low-income seniors will dramatically change and clean-up the area.

While entering into an option does not guarantee construction of the project, it would be the first step to do that. Mr. D. H. McCreary, President of the Christian Church Homes will be present to make the request in person.
