Meeting Date:  April 11, 2000

Subject/Title:     Agreement for Purchase and Sale with The Bill Brandt Family Partnership

Submitted by:    Engineering: J. Stevenson/M. Kirby

Approved by:     Jon Elam, City Manager

RECOMMENDATION

Passage of a Resolution approving agreement for purchase of a fee parcel, with The Bill Brandt Family Partnership, a California Limited Partnership, for a portion of real property identified as APN 013-010-005 & 013-010-006, accepting real property on behalf of the City, and authorizing the Mayor or City Manager and City Clerk or any of their designees to execute the contract, and such other documents as may be needed to complete the transaction including acceptance of the deed.

PREVIOUS ACTION

In 1994, an attempt for Assessment District 94-4 was made for Highway 4 street improvements and underground utilities.  The Assessment District was never formed because the underground utility improvements were too costly.

On September 14, 1999, City Council passed Resolution No. 99-202 approving the acquisition of the ultimate right of way for Highway 4 (Brentwood Boulevard) fronting the Dodge dealer (APN 013-010-005) for the Brentwood Boulevard Reconstruction Phase I, CIP No. 336-3013.

On February 8, 2000, City Council approved Resolution 2011 amending the Capital Improvement Program for the fiscal year 1999/00-2003/04 to include Brentwood Boulevard Reconstruction Phase I, CIP No. 336-3013.

BACKGROUND

In connection with the Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project throughout the City of Brentwood, planned for the year 2001, the City will widen and improve various sections to improve vehicular movement through the City.  These improvements are critical for public safety.  The improvements will consist of approximately 350 feet of roadway widening, installation of curb, gutter, sidewalk, landscaping and minor drainage modifications.

Funding is through the CIP budget for this project.
