CITY COUNCIL AGENDA ITEM NO. 9

 Meeting Date:     March 28, 2000

Subject/Title:      Reimbursement through State-Local Transportation Partnership Program for the Brentwood Boulevard/Grant Street Intersection Improvements Project

Submitted by:     Engineering: J. Stevenson/K. Wahl

Approved by:      Jon Elam, City Manager

 RECOMMENDATION

Passage of a Resolution approving and authorizing the City Manager to execute Program Supplement Agreement No. 008 to State-Local Transportation Partnership Program Agreement SLTPP-5300 for State reimbursement for the Brentwood Boulevard/Grant Street Intersection Improvements, CIP Project No. 336-3006.

 PREVIOUS ACTION

On January 26, 1993, the City Council passed Resolution No. 93-08 approving a master agreement with the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) for partial reimbursement for local transportation construction projects.

 BACKGROUND

The State-Local Transportation Partnership Program (SLTPP) was implemented in 1989 to assist local agencies to fund and construct transportation improvement projects.  The reimbursement ratio has varied from year to year depending on the total eligible cost of all eligible projects which have been nominated by local agencies.  Ten projects were nominated and approved as eligible by Caltrans for Cycle 8.  The attached Program Supplement Agreement is for the first project of that group, the Brentwood Boulevard/Grant Street Intersection Improvements.  This project was completed in January 1997 and is eligible to receive $19,335, which is 24.54% of the allowable contract amount.

In order for the funds to be released, the City is required to execute a program supplement to the master agreement, and to pass a resolution identifying the project and naming the official authorized to sign the program supplement on behalf of the City.

RESOLUTION NO.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD APROVING AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE PROGRAM SUPPLEMENT AGREEMENT NO. 008 TO THE STATE-LOCAL TRANSPORTATION PARTNERSHIP PROGRAM AGREEMENT NO. SLTPP-5300 (BRENTWOOD BOULEVARD/GRANT STREET INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS, CIP PROJECT NO. 336-3006)

WHEREAS, Senate Bill 300 provided State participation in the funding of certain local transportation projects; and

WHEREAS, in accordance with Senate Bill 300, the City and Caltrans entered into the State-Local Transportation Partnership Program Agreement for State Share funds on February 8, 1993 for subsequent projects.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Brentwood, that the Program Supplement Agreement No. 008 for the Brentwood Boulevard/Grant Street Intersection Improvements for the State-Local Transportation Partnership Program Agreement be approved and authorized for execution by the City Manager.
