The Redevelopment Agency funded an attractive hardscape and
landscape treatment project in the Downtown area.
The project was constructed in 1985.

appropriate as street trees as they mature.
Other trees, such as Ornamental Pears, suffer from decease, neglect,
and insufficient pruning. In
addition, many of the Pear trees have grown into streetlights, greatly
reducing the amount of light they provide.
Older trees in the Downtown area have also had problems, such
as the Modesto Ash trees in the City Hall parking lot and the Carob
trees on Second Street.
would like to take the opportunity to present solutions on the current
street tree problems in the Downtown area and discuss the general direction
of increased efforts in street tree maintenance in the Downtown area.
