Set a date for Public Hearing

PREVIOUS ACTIONS: The City Council has reviewed various procedures and steps in reviewing a merger of the City's Redevelopment areas.                                                                                                                                                      

RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Approve the resolution calling a joint Public Hearing on the proposed Amendment No. 4 to the Redevelopment Plan for the Brentwood Redevelopment Project, proposed Amendment No. 2 to the Redevelopment Plan for the North Brentwood Redevelopment Project, and the Negative Declaration relating thereto.                                                                                                                                                           

COMMENTS:  This Council action form sets March 23, 2000 as the date for a Public Hearing to consider to issue of merging the City's two Redevelopment Project Areas.  In preparation for the hearing staff will conduct an aggressive outreach effort including:

§         Publish and post the Notice of Public Hearing for four consecutive weeks. 

§         Mail Notice of the Public Hearing to all property owners, residents, and businesses within both project areas.  In addition, governing bodies of each taxing agency that receives taxes from property in both project areas will be notified by certified mail.

§         A public meeting to discuss this proposal.  In this meeting City staff will review the proposal with all interested parties and address questions and comments needed for the March 23 meeting.  Notice of this meeting will be published in all three local papers.

RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD CONSENTING TO AND CALLING A JOINT PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT NO. 4 TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE BRENTWOOD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT, PROPOSED AMENDMENT NO. 2 TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR THE NORTH BRENTWOOD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT, AND THE NEGATIVE DECLARATION RELATING THERETO

 

WHEREAS, the Redevelopment Agency of the City of Brentwood (the “Agency”), by Resolution No.                   on December 28, 1999, submitted to the City Council of the City of Brentwood (the “City Council”) a proposed Amendment No. 4 to the Redevelopment Plan for the Brentwood Redevelopment Project and a proposed Amendment No. 2 to the Redevelopment Plan for the North Brentwood Redevelopment Project (collectively, the “Amendments”) and consented to and requested that the City Council call a joint public hearing of the Agency and the City Council to consider and act upon the proposed Amendments; and

WHEREAS, the City Council acknowledges receipt of the proposed Amendments, along with the Report to the City Council on the proposed Amendments and the Negative Declaration relating thereto; and

WHEREAS, Section 33355 of the California Community Redevelopment Law (Health and Safety Code Section 33000 et seq.) authorizes a joint public hearing on the proposed Amendments with the consent of the Agency and the City Council;

NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD DOES HEREBY RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:

Section 1.  The City Council hereby consents to and, at the request of the Agency, calls a joint public hearing of the Agency and the City Council on Tuesday, March 23, 2000 at 7:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, 150 City Park Way, Brentwood, California, to consider and act upon the proposed Amendments, the Negative Declaration and all documents and evidence pertaining thereto.

Section 2.  The City Clerk of the City of Brentwood shall, in cooperation with the Secretary of the Agency, prepare, publish and mail such notices and documents and do all other acts as may be necessary to carry out the purposes of this resolution
