Approve the Purchase of 2 Pickup Trucks for the Parks and Recreation Department
PREVIOUS ACTIONS: The purchase of two pick-up trucks was included in the Fiscal year 1999/00 Budget approved by the Council.
RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Passage of Resolution No. 99-
approving the purchase of two pick-up trucks for the Park and Recreation Department from Bill Brandt Ford, and authorize the City Manager to execute the agreement and necessary documents to purchase a Ford F150 and a Ford F250 pick-up in the amount not to exceed $35,788.53.
COMMENTS: Currently, the Park and Recreation Department has two trucks, a Chevrolet C 20 and a Ford Ranger, both of which are over nine years old and past their service life. The purchase of a three quarter ton truck and a half ton truck will provide park crews with the flexibility to perform both maintenance and inspection duties in City parks. We anticipate that Park staff will continue to provide various maintenance functions, as well as regular inspection duties after the awarding of a Park Maintenance Contract in February, 2000.
Staff solicited bids and obtained quotes from two different vendors, evaluated the equipment and checked warranties thoroughly. The price quotes received from the two vendors are attached. The lowest bid was received from Bill Brandt Ford for $35,788.53, including tax.
