Minutes of June 28, 2002

A meeting of the City Council of the City of Brentwood was called to order at 9:00 a.m. in the City Council Chambers located at 734 Third Street, with Mayor McPoland presiding.

ROLL CALL
Present: Councilmembers Beckstrand, Gomes, Petrovich, Mayor McPoland
Absent: Councilmember Hill

CONSENT CALENDAR

1. Waive second reading and adopt Ordinance No. 708, amending Ordinance No. 333 and Ordinance No. 496, as previously amended, and approving and adopting the Amendment to the Merged Brentwood and North Brentwood Redevelopment Plans. (G. Rozenski)

2. Approve the following Resolutions concerning the Consolidated General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2002.

A) A Resolution calling and giving notice of a General Municipal Elections on Tuesday, November 5, 2002 for electing a Mayor and two members of the City Council, and for the submission of a measure concerning the business license tax and regulations.

B) A Resolution adopting regulations for candidates for elective office pertaining to candidate’s statements submitted to the voters at an election to be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2002.

C) A Resolution setting priorities for filing written arguments regarding a city measure and directing the City Attorney to prepare an impartial analysis.

D) A Resolution requesting the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa to consolidate a General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2002 with the Statewide General Election pursuant to §10403 of the Elections Code.

ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF BRENTWOOD, AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 333 AND ORDINANCE NO. 496, AS PREVIOUSLY AMENDED, AND APPROVING AND ADOPTING THE AMENDMENTS TO THE REDEVELOPMENT PLANS FOR THE MERGED BRENTWOOD AND NORTH BRENTWOOD REDEVELOPMENT PROJECTS

It was moved/seconded by Gomes/Beckstrand the second reading of Ordinance 708 be waived and the same be adopted as recommended by staff. Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Councilmembers Beckstrand, Gomes, Mayor McPoland
NOES: None
ABSENT: None
ABSTAIN: None

Let the record show that Councilmember Petrovich was present but did not vote.

Item 2 Approve the following Resolutions concerning the Consolidated General Municipal Election to be held on November 5, 2002.

It was moved/seconded by Gomes/Beckstrand to approve Resolutions 2602, 2603, 2604 and 2605 as recommended by staff. Motion carried by the following vote:

AYES: Councilmembers Beckstrand, Gomes, Hill, Mayor McPoland
NOES: None
ABSENT: Councilmember Hill
ABSTAIN: None

Item 3 Discussion and direction to staff concerning the Preliminary City Gate Report.
