PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Chair J. Strauss advised that the committee has selected April 20, 2012 as the date for the middle school dance fundraiser and he has designed a flyer. The theme is Tie Dye. Areas of responsibility are designated as Commissioner A. Strauss for the glow sticks that will be the giveaway item; Commissioner Marquez for school announcements; Commissioner Montes for the music play list; and Commissioner Z. Strauss for decorations.

Commissioner Marquez advised that she received a response from Adams Middle School and the Youth Commission is approved to visit any day within the next two weeks to do their presentation. She has not received a response from Edna Hill Middle School but she will continue her efforts. The committee members will visit the schools, distribute flyers for the dance and discuss the youth commission application.
5. ACTION ITEM: Determine commissioners’ interest in volunteering at the Brentwood Police Activities League’s Tigers Challenge, scheduled for Saturday, April 28, 2012. (J. Strauss)
Chair J. Strauss advised that he hasn’t heard any further details about the event. He missed the last PAL meeting as he was out of town. He’s unsure if the Youth Commission will receive any portion of the event proceeds for its scholarship fund.
Discussion followed concerning the commissioners’ interest and availability to assist at the event. Based on minimal availability of those youth commissioners present, and considering four commissioners were absent, the general consensus was to not commit the Youth Commission to the event.
