Commissioner A. Strauss distributed an outline for the Teen Town Hall which describes the items planned for the event. The outline consists of an introduction and a brief background of the Youth Commission; query the audience to determine who they are and what school they attend; distribute the survey; follow-up and expand on the survey responses; divide the audience into groups for the discussion questions; wrap-up and thank everyone for attending. Commissioners Cushing & Marquez volunteered to attend the City Council meeting on April 9 to invite them to the Teen Town Hall.
4. ACTION ITEM: Determine if commissioners will volunteer at the Brentwood Police Explorers Competition on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Heritage High School and review event expectations. (C. Peart)
Police Liaison Peart reiterated the opportunity for the Youth Commission to volunteer at the Brentwood Police Explorers Competition on April 27, 2013. A minimum of five volunteers are requested to arrive by 8:30 a.m. and remain through the conclusion of the scenarios. The volunteers are welcome to stay and have dinner and watch the awards ceremony. Commissioners Olveda, Marquez, Montes, J. Strauss, and Z. Strauss volunteered for the event. Commissioner Conder is a possibility.
Motion to commit Commissioners Olveda, Marquez, Montes, J. Strauss, and Z. Strauss to volunteer at the Brentwood Police Explorers Competition on Saturday, April 27, 2013.

5. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update from the School Outreach Committee regarding visits to the local middle schools to increase middle school student involvement with the Youth Commission. (G. Olveda)
Commissioner Olveda made a presentation at Edna Hill Middle School and several of the students were interested in joining the Youth Commission and the Teen Town Hall. Commissioner Montes visited Adams Middle School and the kids seemed excited about the Youth Commission and the Teen Town Hall. Commissioners Spears and Marquez had difficulty visiting Bristow Middle School due to school work loads and lack of transportation.
City Staff Liaison Gary reminded the commissioners that the Youth Commission Applications and Scholarship Applications are both due by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2013. She will set-up a time with the Executive Committee to review the scholarship applications and make the selections.
Police Liaison Peart reminded the commissioners about the Teen Town Hall rehearsal prior to the April Youth Commission meeting. He asked that commissioners check their schedules and know their availability to volunteer at the Brentwood Police Explorers Competition.
