SPECIAL MEETING Monday, August 12, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. City Council Chambers 734 Third Street Brentwood, CA 94513 CALL TO ORDER: Chairperson Coree Brown called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m. ROLL CALL: Secretary Brea Bryant called the roll. The following Commissioners were present: Coree Brown, Ashley Brown, Taylor Brinkman, Brian Fredenberg, Cynthia Fredenberg, Daisy Hurtado, Jessica Ordaz and Brea Bryant. Absent were Commissioners Laura Wenograd, Stacie Del Chiaro and Danielle Warfield. Also present was Poldina Scherff, Recreation Services Supervisor. Advisors Dave Lang and Maria Segura were absent. AGENDA REVIEW: No changes or additions. CITIZEN COMMENTS: None SCHEDULED MATTERS: 1. Review of applications of potential Youth Commissioners and make recommendation to the Mayor for appointments to the Youth Commission. Applications were reviewed by the Commissioners. Commissioners Ashley Brown and Brea Bryant have reapplied for the Commission. Other new applicants were Crystal Hammers, Darcy Garrity, Veridiana Ramirez and Megan DeGuerre. There were five openings on the Youth Commission for the upcoming year. Chairperson Coree Brown, Stacie Del Chiaro and Laura Wenograd would not be available to serve on the Commission at the end of their terms. After reviewing the applications, a vote was taken of the Commissioners present. The results were as follows: Ashley Brown - 8 votes Brea Bryant - 8 votes Crystal Hammers - 8 votes Darcy Garrity - 4 votes Veridiana Ramirez - 6 votes Megan DeGuerre - 6 votes Commissioner Ashley Brown moved the acceptance of the five applicants receiving the most votes, Darcy Garrity will be considered if a replacement is needed for any reason. Chairperson Coree Brown seconded the motion and motion carried unanimously. Ms. Scherff said the slate of applicants will then be presented to the City Council for approval on the 27th of August. She urged all Commissioners to be present. Ms. Scherff requested retiring Commissioners to also be present as they will also be recognized for their service to the City at that time by the Mayor and the City Council. There was some further discussion of the Team Building day at the Great America Park. Time to leave has not been decided definitely, but Ms. Scherff will let them know when all plans are firmed up. The next Commission meeting will be September 9, 2002.
