ROLL CALL and OPENING: Meeting commenced at 6:53 p.m. Commissioners in attendance were Coree Brown, Stacie Del Chiaro, Cynthia Fredenberg, Laura Wenograd, Ashley Brown, Jessica Ordaz, Lacey Barry, Daisy Hurtado, Casey Billingsley and advisor Dave Lang. Parks and Recreation Staff in attendance Poldina Scherff and Tim Taylor.

Absent: Adult advisor Maria Segura.

CONSENT CALENDAR:

1. Approval of minutes of regular meeting on September 11, 2000. Casey motioned to approve the minutes, Laura 2nd. 9-0 motion carried.

PUBLIC HEARING(S)

(None)

OLD BUSINESS:

1. Staff reported that 17 participants had signed up for Fright Fest. The Commission agreed to pass out more flyers. 

2. Staff reported that we contacted a person from the City of San Jose who can possibly hold the training session for the commissioners to meet their needs. A Saturday in January was discussed, either on the 20th or the 27th.

3. Staff researched the ski trip to Boreal or Sugarbowl. The commission agreed that Boreal is nicer and a better value. Price includes lift tickets and ski and snowboard rental. The commission decided to subsidize half of the bus cost to make it more appealing to teens. Laura made a motion to hold a ski trip at Boreal at a date to be determined at the next meeting, and subsidize half of the cost of the bus. Coree 2nd the motion. Motion carried 9-0.

4. Stacie and Coree agreed to meet to discuss the holiday parade and report at the next meeting.

5. It was discussed that for the Homecoming Parade: Brian and Taylor would hold the Youth Commission banner. Jessica, Daisy, Cynthia and Lacey would hand out candy. Laura had Poldina complete the application for the parade. The sub-committee decided to meet on Oct. 18th to decorate the lollipops.

6. The Youth Commission discussed a calendar of events for 2001. Ashley motioned to approve the attached Calendar of Events for 2001. Cynthia 2nd the motion. Motion carried 9-0.

7. Staff discussed Youth Commission meeting dates for 2001. Lacey motioned to approve the attached meeting dates for 2001. Daisy 2nd the motion. Motion carried 9-0.
