City Administration
The General Plan serves as the blueprint for development within the community. The current General Plan was adopted in 1993 and covers the time period from 1993 to 2010. The General Plan is available on this website (above) or a copy may be reviewed or purchased at the City of Brentwood’s Community Development Department at 104 Oak Street in Brentwood.

As the community changes over time, and to ensure that Brentwood continues to be a desirable place to live, work, and visit, the General Plan is periodically evaluated to determine if amendments are needed. The Housing section was updated by City staff in 1998 and is currently in the process of being updated again.

In 1999, due to the rapid pace of growth in Brentwood and influx of many new residents, the City Council initiated a General Plan update to evaluate the Land Use, Circulation, and Growth Management sections. A 19-person General Plan Working Group was formed to direct this update process with final action being taken by the City Council in the fall of 2001. Working Group meetings and community workshops were held throughout this update process to encourage public participation and agendas and minutes from these meetings are still available (above).

If you have any questions about the General Plan, please contact the Community Development Department (925) 516-5405.
