SCHEDULED MATTERS
2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discuss the purpose and need for subcommittees within BANC. The committee discussed the need for subcommittees within BANC to work on special projects and members agreed that there is no longer a need for subcommittees due to the small number of BANC members, thus allowing for ample discussion time during the monthly BANC meeting. Should action or tasks need to be accomplished by members in between the monthly meetings, action items will be assigned to members who will report back at the next meeting or via email.

3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update from the National Neighborhood Day subcommittee. As a result of Item 2 above, the subcommittee was disbanded but discussion amongst the group resulted in Karen Nunez committing to working with Staff Liaison Michele Keady to have BANC support the upcoming National Night Out event on August 3, 2010. Discussion regarding BANC’s further involvement with the national Neighborhood Day event, scheduled for September 19, 2010, would be discussed at the August BANC meeting.

4. ACTION ITEM: Update from the Christmas Tree Lighting subcommittee and approve the date, time, location and a budget not to exceed $700 for event supplies and services. As a result of Item 2 above, the subcommittee was disbanded but members discussed and approved the date of the event for Friday, December 3, 2010 at the Brentwood Senior Activity Center. The event would begin at 6:00 p.m. with singing and refreshments followed by the actual tree lighting at 7:00 p.m. Motion to approve the date, time, location and budget not to exceed $700 made by Steve Smith and seconded by Tammy Lynn Misenheimer.
