BANC Minutes - October 10, 2007
City of Brentwood BANC Committee Meeting notes from 10/10/07

1. Marketing Brainstorming Session: goal to improve BANC visibility
Suggestion were made to update BANC‘s website to include:
• History of BANC
• The Goal of BANC
• Provide important contact phone numbers
• Safety tips
• Schedule a clean up day for the city
• Hand out flyers and /or BANC T-shirts in each quadrant
• BANC Brochures to be completed after city council clarifies the role of BANC and what the council expects from BANC

2. Called to order/roll call at 6:30 P.M.

Members in Attendance: Tammy Lynn Misenheimer, Alfredo Garcia, Johnny Staton, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Craig Bronzan, Steven Smith, Deborah Diaz;
Council Member Brandon Richey, Jason Davis, Perry Chicane, Barbara Gary

Absent: Shelia Cunningham, Cassandra Youngblood, William Iles, Chuck Handwork

Guests: Alexis Reeves, Jeff Altman

The committee officially welcomed back Barbara Gary

3. Approval of the minutes: Tammy Lynn addresses committee to approve the August 7, 2007 minutes: Motion made by Jason Davis and second by Debbie Diaz.

4. Appointment to the Holiday Tree Lighting sub committee: The sub -committee members are Perry Chicane, Johnny Staton , Claudette Naturel-Staton, William Iles, Jeff Altman, Deborah Diaz and Tammy Lynn Misenheimer.

5. Discussion of the Hometown Halloween Event: The BANC committee approved a budget of an additional $50 (to the previously approved $50) to purchase candy. Tammy Lynn encouraged members to help out at the event. Flyers for the holiday tree lighting ceremony will be passed out during the event. Discussion regarding what is appropriate to give homeowners for the best Halloween décor; members agreed on coffee mugs filled with candy and a certificate signed by the Mayor. Barbara suggest each quadrant to email the winning homeowner address, descriptions of the properties by 10/29/07 and members to take a picture of the homes for the Brentwood Press.

6. Update from the Holiday Tree Lighting Committee: Perry Chicane informed the committee that the Woodland Pine Holiday Tree with C7 Lights is in route to Brentwood. Barbara and Craig Bronzan said the tree will be delivered to Parks and Recreation Department. Debbie mentioned that last year’s tree ornaments were missing and this year’s tree is bigger and will need more ornaments. Perry proposed a $350.00 budget. There was discussion about what type of new ornaments should be purchased. Tammy Lynn addressed the committee to make a motion to approve the $350.00 budget. The budget was approved. The committee set November 28th as the date to decorate the tree at 2:00 pm. Tammy Lynn encouraged all members to help out with the tree decorating.

7. The BANC committee agreed Brentwood business owners should be encouraged to be apart of the holiday festivities. The committee agreed a contest for the best holiday decorations would be an incentive for Brentwood business owners. A suggestion was made to make the announcement of the contest in the Brentwood Press and with the Brentwood Chamber of Commerce. Tammy Lynn will ask the Brentwood Chamber and the Brentwood Press to publish information on the contest. Participating businesses will receive a certificate of appreciation and more.

8. Staff Update: Craig Bronzan said Monday, November 26 will be the day the City will set up the new Woodland Pine Holiday Tree.

9. City Council Update: Council Member Brandon Richey gave the following update:

• Water rates increase did not go unnoticed; they received many complaints and comments from the community
• The city property maintenance ordinance on all properties, even bank owned, will go into effect in 2008
• City Council is working to put together a rental inspection program.
• Claudette asked how soon Highway 4 Bypass project will be completed. Councilman Richey said Caltrans is working very hard to finish and thinks possibly by Jan. 2008 for the first portion.
• Claudette also asked how many low income homes will be built off Sand Creek and Shady Willow. Councilman Richey commented that 160 units will be built within a gated community.
• Tammy Lynn asked for council member Richey to have City Council define the role and expectation of BANC since there are so many new members on the committee. He agreed to get back to the committee with an answer.
