Minutes for March 14, 2012
Regular Meeting

CALL TO ORDER: Meeting called to order at 6:07 p.m.

ROLL CALL: Steve Smith, Claudette Naturel-Staton, Karen Nunez, Silky Sahnan, Arthur Koski, Cheryl Nickerson and Shelly McHugh. Council Member Robert Brockman, and Staff Liaisons Barbie Gary and Michele Keady were present. Absent from the meeting were members Cecilia Skuza, Rick Fuller and Johnny Staton.
PRESENTATIONS: None
ANNOUNCEMENTS: New member, Shelly McHugh, was introduced. Several guests in attendance were invited to introduce themselves, including Tom Mucha, Gene Clare and Dasa Mankova.
CITIZEN COMMENT: None
CONSENT CALENDAR
1. Approve regular meeting minutes of January 11, 2012. Motion to approve the minutes made by Karen Nunez and seconded by Silky Sahnan. Approved 6 - 0.

SCHEDULED MATTERS

1. ACTION ITEM: Review and approve proposed revisions to BANC’s mission, goals and membership requirements. Members reviewed the revisions to the mission, goals and membership requirements and recommended moving them forward for approval by the City Council. Motion to approve the proposed revisions made by Karen Nunez and seconded y Silky Sahnan. Motion approved 6-0.

INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND LIAISONS: Bob Brockman discussed a variety of topics raised at the last council meeting including the following:
• Update regarding City Council approval of a new, 400 ton capacity waste transfer station, to be located about 1000 yards behind the current station. The old location will allow the creation of an additional parking area for Sunset Park Athletic Complex. Funding for the project is from an enterprise fund.
• Update regarding the development of the Highway 4/Sand Creek Road Overpass, scheduled to begin construction in 2012.
• Update regarding the City Council’s support of a fire tax for Brentwood residents to continue fire services in the community.

STAFF COMMENTS: Staff Liaison Keady informed the committee about the upcoming Citizen’s Academy and CERT trainings. Staff Liaison Gary shared about several upcoming special events, including the Parks & Recreation Department’s Lunch with Bunny event and summer concert series, as well as the planned grand opening of the Civic Center in May.

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Presentation by Alex Greenwood, Economic Development Department with the City, information about the 2012 National Night Out program, and continued discussion on marketing BANC and its mission to the community.

ADJOURNMENT: Meeting adjourned at 6:50 p.m. Motion made by Karen Nunez and seconded by Cheryl Nickerson. Approved 6 - 0.
