SCHEDULED MATTERS
2. DISCUSSION ITEM: Update regarding the annual Christmas Tree Lighting scheduled for December 2, 1011 at the Brentwood Senior Activity Center. The committee reviewed the flyer for the event that will be distributed at Hometown Halloween and suggested adding the word’s “the City of Brentwood” to the annual Christmas Tree Lighting title to avoid confusion with the Streets of Brentwood’s tree lighting. The group reviewed progress made on assigned duties. Santa Claus has been secured and some singing groups have already contacted Johnny Staton regarding singing at the event. Mr. Staton will coordinate the PA system and bring condenser mics for the performers. Regarding drinks and cookies that would be available to participants, the committee decided to purchase enough cookies and hot chocolate to serve 400 guests. At the November BANC meeting, the committee would like to discuss how to spend the $700.00 approved for event expenses.

3. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discussion details regarding the Hometown Halloween booth on Saturday, October 22, 2011 and the Halloween Home of the Month winner presentation on Sunday, October 30, 2011. Members Garcia, Smith, Fuller and Koski volunteered to arrive at 4:30 p.m. to assist with setting up the booth at Hometown Halloween and hand out the glow-in-the dark necklaces and Christmas Tree Lighting flyers. Claudette Natural-Staton and Karen Nunez offered to volunteer from 5:30-8:00 p.m. BANC is still accepting nominations for the Halloween Home of the Month and members will continue to keep an eye out for homes worthy of nominations. Members will present the winner with their goody basket and Home of the Month lawn sign at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 30, 2011.

4. DISCUSSION ITEM: Review Fiscal Year 2011/2012 budget for BANC. Item was tabled until the November 9, 2011 BANC meeting due to several members absence.

5. DISCUSSION ITEM: Discuss ideas for attracting new BANC members. The committee discussed several ideas for how to recruit and spread the word about BANC membership. Suggestions included a newspaper article, sharing about the committee with friends and neighbors, sending a letter to those who participated in the National Night Out event, submitting a flyer or article in the Chamber of Commerce and/or City newsletter and flyers, signs and sign-up sheets at the annual Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

INFORMATIONAL REPORTS FROM COMMITTEE MEMBERS, SUBCOMMITTEES AND LIAISONS: Member Stephan Smith updated the committee on recent City Council agenda items including the Fire
Board, Highway 4 Bypass improvements and the possible addition of a big box store on Brentwood Boulevard.

STAFF COMMENTS: None

REQUEST FOR FUTURE AGENDA ITEMS: Review assignments and prioritize the use of the approved funding for the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony and review BANC’s finances.
